As teachers, every class has one of those more difficult students. They challenge teachers and sometimes even push them to their limits. You want to be able to create a positive relationship with your students, and help them learn in a positive environment.

Do NOT question the student about their behavior.

Some students are looking for that feedback they normally would get when they misbehave. These behaviors have been positively reinforced because they always get that feedback that they were looking for. When the student misbehaves, give them their correct punishment with no questions about it. Questioning them may also set off another outburst when the behavior was already under control, and that isn't what we want. We want the student to keep their cool, and handle these situations in a positive manor.

Do NOT lecture, scold, or yell.

It may be difficult for you, but you have to keep your cool when working with the more difficult students. Chances are, is that they already know that what they did was wrong, so when you loose it, you are giving into their behavior. When you snap back, you are positively reinforcing their behavior, and some students even look for that attention you give them when you are trying to correct their behavior. The students still need to be punished, however, but keep your cool.

Do NOT ignore the student's negative behavior.

If you ignore the student's behavior, they will continue with it. You don't want the student to think that it is okay to do that, and ignoring it just maintains that behavior.

When a student misbehaves, make sure you recall your classroom policies, or even the school policies, and ensure that the student is punished accordingly.
